About
It’s was pretty much what It says on the front page….My blog of our trip across to Norman to see some Sooner Football. It has now grown to something much more than that. With the amazing hospitality and friendships made in Norman, I decided to carry on the blog. Still mainly talking about Sooner Sports (mainly Football & Gymnastics) but with a little British American Football and just our life here in the UK thrown in! It has become so easy to write about the Sooners, I enjoy blogging and sharing my views on what goes on in Norman, as often an outside view is different to one from Norman. I’m just a normal guy who loves Sooner Sports, trying to be the best person I can be and to be a positive influence to others.
I’m Sam, 26 currently living just outside Peterbough. University Graduate who enjoys playing Football over here (not soccer). I live with my insane rescue Dalmatian, Lucie. I love life, love meeting new people and sharing/ making new stories, for life is what we make of it and I intend to live it.
And this is our Dalmatian, Lucie
She, unfortunately like too many dogs did not have the best start to life, having several homes. She chose me to look after and protect her in October 2010 (Its more the other way, she is a great protector of the family now) and regardless of what has happened previously in her life, she is so full of love and energy. A great thing about some Dalmatians are that they have the ability to smile. I can tell you, there is no greater feeling then coming in from work and seeing Lucie running towards you, smiling her head off. It makes any issues or problems seem trivial and brightens up your day. Side note, If you thinking of a dog, why not try the local rescue centers… these dogs know what hardship is and love you so much more for given them a forever home.

Hello Sam,
I just read Kenny Mossman’s story on soonersports.com and had to reach out because I’m English too! I was born the year after my parents emigrated from London, and learned football with my Dad, beginning when I was two. I live in Norman and am a lifelong Sooner!
I’m so thrilled you’re traveling here for a game. There is simply nothing like it, you have to experience it in person. My English family and friends who have visited for a game have been stunned. (in a good way)
Have a wonderful trip! My Dad is traveling to the FSU game, so if you see another British Sooner running around, that’s him.
I’d love to meet you and Stacy when you’re in Norman if that works out. Be sure and tell her I love the picture of the shirt she designed! Fabulous. (And, I alway have plenty of PG Tips…after a week away you may be craving decent tea..haha)
Boomer Sooner!

Hi Julia,
Thank you for visiting and sharing your story. Kenny did a fantastic job on the article, so proud right now! That’s really great, living in Norman and been totally emerged into Sooner Football, amazing! I wish I had been introduced to Football at 2
It has been a while in the making the trip over, just real glad can finally get to Norman for a game. Oh I can imagine your friends would have been blown away as they really wouldn’t have had any idea of the passion and the following Sooner Football has before getting to a game (especially compared to soccer games). That’s great, we really not sure what we doing before the FSU game yet, but any other Brits around is a great thing!
We are going to try and meet as many people as possible whilst in OKC and Norman, so we will do all we can to make it happen. Stacie is rather great with creating things, I will make sure she reads this
And a decent tea may be needed, I think we taking an emergency supply of Yorkshire Tea just in case!
Thanks again
Sam

I believe you are somewhere over the Atlantic now, so sorry I just checked back in. Hope your trip is going well! Enjoy the FSU game, I hate not being there, but just couldn’t make it happen this weekend. Big “road” games always make me nervous, but I have full faith our Sooners will win this one and then really put on a show for you against Missouri in Norman.
Tell Stacie I’ll run get some Yorkshire tea just for you guys.
Just zip me an email once you know your plan for Norman/OKC and we’d love to catch up if that works for you. Even if it is running by a tailgate party to quickly say hello, we’d love it. (julia@juliachew.com)
Have a wonderful time at the game tomorrow and cheer loudly!! Boomer!
